PARENTS

our goal

At ArtLab, our goal is to spark an interest in art and science. ArtLab is a safe space of self-expression, self-exploration, and imagination. Art and science are intrinsically linked, as their essence is discovery. Integrating science and visual art can provide students with the latitude to think, discover and make connections.

ArtLab classes are developmentally appropriate for students in kindergarten through second grade. All our classes are offered once a week and last one hour. All our classes are designed to start and finish a project on the same day and all supplies are included in the registration fee. This year we will be covering science topics such weather and the seasons, animals and their habitats, plants and fungi, space exploration, conservation and ecology, the water cycle, robots, and many more. Students will use mediums such as tempera paints, watercolors, oil pastels, chalk pastels, colored pencils, markers, pens, pencils and tempera paint sticks.  Through our projects, students not only have an opportunity to learn about science and art, but they are also able to develop their fine motor skills by participating in activities such as drawing, cutting, tearing paper, painting, threading and lacing, manipulating clay, etc. Practicing fine motor skills will help children have a solid foundation for their future everyday tasks and will have a positive impact in their core classes.

Classes are limited to 15 students. Registration typically opens a month before the semester begins. Our first semester begins in September and ends in December. Our second semester starts in January and ends in May. Parents will register and pay per semester using our registration page.
